I believe every person should be allowed to have at least one completely unreasonable opinion. Nothing dangerous, of course. Just something they are prepared to defend with surprising passion despite having absolutely no scientific evidence. For example, I believe that choosing a movie with another person is sometimes a more complicated negotiation than buying a house. Two intelligent adults can spend forty minutes discussing their options, reject seventeen perfectly good films, agree that they are both tired of searching, and then somehow start the entire process again. Humanity has achieved space travel, but we still haven't solved this problem. I find these little absurdities of everyday life endlessly entertaining. We are all trying to appear logical and sophisticated, yet most of us have habits that would be difficult to explain to an alien. I include myself in that observation. I like noticing the things people do automatically. The way someone always chooses the same seat, invents strange rules for eating certain foods, or becomes irrationally protective of a favorite song. I think these details are more revealing than most of the impressive facts we put in our introductions. My own life is a mixture of discipline and small acts of rebellion against discipline. I enjoy training because I like seeing what my body can accomplish when I put in the effort. But I also think that spending an entire evening reading or watching something entertaining can be a perfectly respectable achievement. Not every hour of life needs to produce a measurable result. I have a particular affection for conversations that become progressively more ridiculous while somehow remaining intelligent. I love when someone understands that a serious discussion and a stupid joke are not enemies. In fact, I think the ability to switch between them is a rather underrated talent. Being on a dating site makes me wonder how many people are carefully presenting the most impressive version of themselves while hiding the details that would actually make me like them. Perhaps the man I would find fascinating is currently deleting a sentence because he thinks it sounds too strange. I wish he wouldn't. I am interested in love, and I would like a relationship with someone who doesn't treat his personality like a public relations campaign. Someone who can admit that he occasionally behaves irrationally, laughs at his own terrible jokes or has an opinion about something so insignificant that it becomes hilarious. I am not suggesting that two people should agree about everything. Quite the opposite. I think discovering someone's peculiar logic could be one of the most enjoyable parts of getting close. And if we ever spend forty minutes choosing a movie together, I hope we at least have an excellent argument about it. Although I reserve the right to fall asleep during the opening credits.Read more

My favorite hobby is learning languages. I love discovering how people from different countries express their thoughts, feelings and even humor.
