I have a confession. I sometimes judge people by the way they watch movies. Not by their favorite genre. That would be far too easy. I mean the little things. Do you try to guess the ending after the first ten minutes? Do you talk to the characters as if they can hear you? Or are you the kind of man who sits completely still, looking very serious, while secretly becoming emotional over a fictional story? Personally, I find the last one rather adorable. I love cinema, but I think the person sitting beside you can sometimes be more interesting than the film itself. Especially when you discover that you have completely different opinions about what just happened on the screen. Imagine us leaving the cinema. You insist the ending was brilliant. I disagree so passionately that we end up discussing it over dinner. Two hours later, neither of us has changed our mind, but somehow we are already planning our next evening together. That sounds like a pretty successful date to me. As a single woman exploring online dating, I am not expecting every conversation to be perfectly romantic. I would much rather meet someone who makes ordinary moments unexpectedly entertaining. Perhaps a dating site is not the most traditional beginning for a love story. But neither is arguing about a movie until the restaurant closes. And I have a feeling that the right man would make even a terrible film worth watching.
